Fragment Frieze Pendant
Fragment Frieze Pendant
A fragment of delicately carved ornamental stonework depicting an architectural frieze detail adorns the wall of Sir John Soane’s Museum. Using highly detailed 3D scanning this is reimagined at a new scale in gold plated recycled oxidised silver, bringing to life the original craftsman’s detailed carving.
Sir John Soane’s Museum’s notes on the orginal fragament:
Carved frieze fragment with a central acanthus calyx/scroll motive surmounted by two enriched members, developed out of the porticoes around the Hadrianeum. Collected in Rome by Charles Heathcote Tatham for the architect Henry Holland during the 1790s and acquired by Sir John Soane in the 19th century. Most likely of Severan origin, 195-215 AD
All of the collection is hand made in London’ s iconic Hatton Garden jewellery district.
